20 Years of Hope

20 Years of Hope

On October 1, 2003 The House of Hope, or La Casa de Esperanza as the women themselves named it, opened its doors as a place of hospitality and care for sexually exploited women and their children. Every Wednesday and Friday afternoon, a small group of volunteers would share a meal together with all who came to visit. We would open the doors and warmly welcome everyone. We began by simply building relationships, listening to stories & sharing some of our own. We could never have imagined how the Lord would transform an empty building into a place of such love, joy and hospitality for all who enter its doors.

“We don’t find what we find here anywhere else.  There’s something different about this place.”  - Eliana

I feel different here – like a different kind of person.” – Marisol

Hermana, excuse me for joking so much.  Life gets so overwhelming.  So we come here to forget about our lives and have fun for awhile.  I’m sorry if I get too silly.” - Willy

"I've found friends here; I've realized I’m valuable." - Flora

“We are so thankful that you opened the doors of ‘Casa Esperanza’ and for motivating us to begin working with our hands and move ahead. ” - Maria & Susana

“Every time we come here, we never want to go to work (on the streets).” - Amelia

This is my special place of learning - the place that motivates me to change. -Yulisa

I was hungry and you gave me food,

I was thirsty and you gave me drink,

I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
